Semmes Library Chess and More!

Want to get better at chess or just looking for a good match? 

The Semmes Library in San Antonio hosts a weekly event for all ages where you can play chess and other games.


Event Details

  • When: Every Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

  • Where: The conference room at Semmes Library, located at 

  • 15060 Judson Rd, San Antonio, TX 78247.

  • What to expect:

    • Learn how to play chess.

    • Play against other chess enthusiasts.

    • Other activities including checkers and math games are also available.

  • What to bring: You can bring your own board, but the library will have some available. The organizers also recommend bringing sanitizing wipes and hand sanitizer for game pieces and players.

Pawns

a game just played with pawns.

Objective: To learn how a pawn moves, takes and works with pawns to create defensive structures. 
                  Learn how to take advantage of a passed pawn.


How to Play:

Set up your board with only pawns:

As in regular chess make sure the board is correctly set with H1 is on the right white square

White side moves first.

Pawns move and take like a regular chess game.

First Pawn to reach the last row wins.
